AVE MARIA

John was a pious catholic who visited his church regularly. One of his friends, James, a protestant, once sought his advice to solve a serious personal problem, “John, I have received two different proposals for my marriage. One is from Maria and the other is from Lily. Both are equally good. I am unable to make a decision. Please advise me.”
John replied, “It is really difficult to decide. Let us seek God’s opinion.” “But how do we know what God has planned for me?” James asked. “You may follow what I do. I enter my church and pray for a while. The correct direction will be revealed to me. I have experienced it several times.” As advised, James went into the catholic church of John, knelt down and closed his eyes in fervent prayer. Later when he opened his eyes, he was filled with wonder. He ran to meet John and shouted with joy, “John, you were right. God revealed it to me. It was a miracle!” John inquired, “How did you get the correct direction?” James replied with excitement, “I prayed and opened my eyes. The answer was there, clearly written on the cloth covering the altar. It read, ‘AVE MARIA’. So I chose Maria and left Lily. Thank God, the confusion is over.” John smiled gently. He knew that the words, ‘AVE MARIA’ were already there in the church as it is a common sight in catholic churches. ‘Ave Maria’ is a version of the greeting, “Hail, Mary” adapted from the salutations of the angel Gabriel and St. Elizabeth to St. Mary {Luke 1:28, 42}. But James had not seen it so far as he had not visited a catholic church earlier. Hence he took it as God’s written message to solve his personal dilemma.
It is a common custom among many believers to blindly open their Bible and read the first verse that catches their eyes, and act according to it, assuming that it is God’s instant message for immediate action. But we must realize that God may not speak always through this short-cut method of man.
A worried woman in a very depressed state blindly opened the Bible expecting God’s direction. The verse she got was: “Then he went off and hanged himself” {Matthew 27:5}. She was really confused. So she closed the Bible and blindly opened another page and read the new message: “You go, then, and do the same” {Luke 10: 37}. Worried about the tragic message, she tried again and repeated her search. This time the message was clear but cruel: “Be quick about what you are doing!” {John 13: 27}. Luckily, she consulted the Vicar before executing the message and so she was saved. The Vicar explained that the three verses were from three different contexts and should not be connected to arrive at a dangerous conclusion.
The Bible is to be read and studied systematically, assimilated actively and practised properly in daily life.
Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnated as man.
The Bible is the Word of God incarnated in the language of man.
King David sings in the Psalms, “Your Word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path” {Psalms 119:105}.
St. Paul exhorts us to get ready for the war against Devil using the Word of God as the sword of the soul: “And accept salvation as a helmet and the Word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you” {Ephesians 6:17}.
“The Word of God is alive and active; sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet. It judges the desires and thoughts of man’s heart” {Hebrews 4:12}.

I COULD NOT RECOGNIZE YOU!

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to
the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience.
Seeing God she asked 'Is my time up?'
God said, 'No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and
8 days to live.'

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and
have a face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck.
She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth!
Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it.
After her last operation, she was released from the hospital.

While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.
Arriving in front of God, she demanded, 'I thought you
said I had another 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from
out of the path of the ambulance?'

God replied:

'I didn't recognize you.'

Many times in many ways we always want to be like someone other than who we are.  In reality God wants us to be who we are.  He wants us to imitate his son Jesus Christ or the Saints and Mother Mary.  We try to follow anything new, everything fashionable, everyone except the above persons.  First let us ask the grace of God to be who we are as He created us and as He wants us to be.

QUIET NOW! BE STILL!

The world which is going into pieces is in need of peace in these days more than ever.  How can we make the world peaceful?  If the hearts of human beings received the peace of mind and heart, the whole world will receive peace.

Then, are we not at peace? Or in other words Are we at peace? Yes, without doubt, the answer is not!  We are not at peace.  We are not at peace with ourselves.  We are not at peace with our family, relatives, friends and with the nature.

Those who are at peace with God will have peace in the hearts which will bring peace everywhere.  God says, ‘Be still, know that I am God’ (Psalm 46:11).  When we are silence in peace, in that tranquility we will know God, hear him speak to us, experience his presence, love and guidance.

We are so noisy within us when problems, sufferings and pain come.  We shout, complain, perplexed, worried, and filled with anxiety like that of the roaring sea.  And still we forget that Jesus is on our boat.  We made him to sleep by worrying about ourselves, prioritizing our needs and desires.  When troubles surround us like stormy waves we make hell of noise.  When we come to Jesus wake him up, bring him into our hearts, into our lives, he looks at our worries, anxieties and he worries about our faithlessness in spite of his presence with us.  So, instead of speaking to us he turns to the nature and tells them and says, "Quiet now! Be Still!" (Mark 4:39).  He knows that the nature will obey better than us.  And it’s done.

He would like to say the same thing to us.  Are you sick, confused, and worried about so many things, in financial problem, dejected, despair… He says, "Quiet now! Be Still!" (Mark 4:39).

Remember the people of Israel before taking a historical victory over the city of Jericho, God asks them to come round the city for seven days without making any noise, just observing silence in the presence of the Ark of the Covenant, in the presence of God.  They obeyed God and conquered the city.  In the same way if we obey his words and be silent in his presence with firm faith, depending not on our own, knowledge, wisdom and strength, be sure that you can be a conqueror of the problems and sufferings.   Do you believe?  Let it be done to you according to your faith.

“Though an army encamp against me, my will not fail; though war break out against me, I will still be confident.” (Psalm 27:3)

The Truth About Catholic Priests

The Teaching of the Lord to the Gentiles by the Twelve Apostles (also known as Didache)

Didache 1:1
There are two ways, one of life and one of death, and there is a great difference between the two ways.
Didache 1:2
The way of life is this. First of all, thou shalt love the God that made thee; secondly, Thy neighbor as thyself. And all things whatsoever thou wouldst not have befall thyself, neither do thou unto another.

Didache 1:3
Now of these words the doctrine is this. Bless them that curse you, and pray for your enemies and fast for them that persecute you; for what thank is it, if ye love them that love you? Do not even the Gentiles the same? But do ye love them that hate you that hate you, and ye shall not have an enemy.

Didache 1:4
Abstain thou from fleshly and bodily lusts. If any man give thee a blow on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also, and thou shalt be perfect; If a man impress thee to go with him one mile, go with him twain; if a man take away thy cloak, give him thy coat also; if a man take away from thee that which is thy own, ask it not back, for neither art thou able.

Didache 1:5
To every man that asketh of thee give, and ask not back for the Father desireth that gifts be given to all from His own bounties. Blessed is he that giveth according to the commandment; for he is guiltless. Woe to him that receiveth; for, if a man receiveth having need, he is guiltless; but he that hath no need shall give satisfaction why and wherefore he received and being put in confinement he shall be examined concerning the deeds that he hath done, and he shall not come out thence until he hath given back the last farthing.

Didache 1:6
Yea, as touching this also it is said; Let thine alms sweat into thine hands, until thou have learnt to whom to give.

Didache 2:1
And this is the second commandment of the teaching.

Didache 2:2
Thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not corrupt boys, thou shalt not commit fornication, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not deal in magic, thou shalt do no sorcery, thou shalt not murder a child by abortion nor kill them when born, thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods,

Didache 2:3
thou shalt not perjure thyself, thou shalt not bear false witness, thou shalt not speak evil, thou shalt not cherish a grudge,

Didache 2:4
thou shalt not be double-minded nor double-tongued; for the double tongue is a snare of death.

Didache 2:5
Thy word shall not be false or empty, but fulfilled by action.

Didache 2:6
Thou shalt not be avaricious nor a plunderer nor a hypocrite nor ill- tempered nor proud. Thou shalt not entertain an evil design against thy neighbor.

Didache 2:7
Thou shalt not hate any man but some thou shalt reprove, and for others thou shalt pray, and others thou shalt love more than thy life.

Didache 3:1
My child, flee from every evil and everything that resembleth it.

Didache 3:2
Be not angry, for anger leadeth to murder, nor jealous nor contentious nor wrathful; for of all these things murders are engendered.

Didache 3:3
My child, be not lustful, for lust leadeth to fornication, neither foul- speaking neither with uplifted eyes; for of all these things adulteries are engendered.

Didache 3:4
My child, be no dealer in omens, since it leads to idolatry, nor an enchanter nor an astrologer nor a magician, neither be willing to look at them; for from all these things idolatry is engendered.

Didache 3:5
My child, be not a liar, since lying leads to theft, neither avaricious neither vainglorious; for from all these things thefts are engendered.

Didache 3:6
My child, be not a murmurer, since it leadeth to blasphemy, neither self- willed neither a thinker of evil thoughts; for from all these things blasphemies are engendered.

Didache 3:7
But be meek, since the meek shall inherit the earth.

Didache 3:8
Be long-suffering and pitiful and guileless and quiet and kindly and always fearing the words which thou hast heard.

Didache 3:9
Thou shalt not exalt thyself, neither shalt thou admit boldness into thy soul. Thy soul shall not cleave together with the lofty, but with the righteous and humble shalt thou walk.

Didache 3:10
The accidents that befall thee thou shalt receive as good, knowing that nothing is done without God.

Didache 4:1
My child, thou shalt remember him that speaketh unto thee the word of God night and day, and shalt honor him as the Lord; for whencesoever the Lordship speaketh, there is the Lord.

Didache 4:2
Moreover thou shalt seek out day by day the persons of the saints, that thou mayest find rest in their words.

Didache 4:3
Thou shalt not make a schism, but thou shalt pacify them that contend; thou shalt judge righteously, thou shalt not make a difference in a person to reprove him for transgressions.

Didache 4:4
Thou shalt not doubt whether a thing shall be or not be.

Didache 4:5
Be not thou found holding out thy hands to receive, but drawing them in as to giving.

Didache 4:6
If thou hast ought passing through thy hands, thou shalt give a ransom for thy sins.

Didache 4:7
Thou shalt not hesitate to give, neither shalt thou murmur when giving; for thou shalt know who is the good paymaster of thy reward.

Didache 4:8
Thou shalt not turn away from him that is in want, but shalt make thy brother partaker in all things, and shalt not say that anything is thy own. For if ye are fellow-partakers in that which is imperishable, how much rather in the things which are perishable?

Didache 4:9
Thou shalt not withhold thy hand from thy son or from thy daughter, but from their youth thou shalt teach them the fear of God.

Didache 4:10
Thou shalt not command thy bondservant or thine handmaid in thy bitterness who trust in the same God as thyself, lest haply they should cease to fear the God who is over both of you; for He cometh, not to call men with respect of persons, but He cometh to those whom the Spirit hath prepared.

Didache 4:11
But ye, servants, shall be subject unto your masters, as to a type of God, in shame and fear.

Didache 4:12
Thou shalt hate all hypocrisy, and everything that is not pleasing to the Lord.

Didache 4:13
Thou shalt never forsake the commandments of the Lord but shalt keep those things which thou hast received, neither adding to them nor taking away from them.

Didache 4:14
In church thou shalt confess thy transgressions, and shalt not betake thyself to prayer with an evil conscience. This is the way of life.

Didache 5:1
But the way of death is this. First of all, it is evil and full of a curse; murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, magical arts, witchcrafts, plunderings, false witnessings, hypocrisies, doubleness of heart, treachery, pride, malice, stubbornness, covetousness, foul—speaking, jealousy, boldness, exaltation, boastfulness;

Didache 5:2
persecutors of good men, hating truth, loving a lie, not perceiving the reward of righteousness, not cleaving to the good nor to righteous judgment, wakeful not for that which is good but for that which is evil-from whom gentleness and forbearance stand aloof; loving vain things, pursuing a recompense, not pitying the poor man, not toiling for him that is oppressed with toil, not recognizing Him that made them, murderers of children, corrupters of the creatures of God, turning away from him that is in want, oppressing him that is afflicted, advocates of the wealthy, unjust judges of the poor, altogether sinful. May ye be delivered, my children, from all these things.

Didache 6:1
See lest any man lead you astray from this way of righteousness, for he teacheth thee apart from God.

Didache 6:2
For if thou art able to bear the whole yoke of the Lord, thou shalt be perfect; but if thou art not able, do that which thou art able.

Didache 6:3
But concerning eating, bear that which thou art able; yet abstain by all means from meat sacrificed to idols; for it is the worship of dead gods.

Didache 7:1
But concerning baptism, thus shall ye baptize. Having first recited all these things, baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit in living (running) water.

Didache 7:2
But if thou hast not living water, then baptize in other water; and if thou art not able in cold, then in warm.

Didache 7:3
But if thou hast neither, then pour water on the head thrice in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Didache 7:4
But before the baptism let him that baptizeth and him that is baptized fast, and any others also who are able; and thou shalt order him that is baptized to fast a day or two before.

Didache 8:1
And let not your fastings be with the hypocrites, for they fast on the second and the fifth day of the week; but do ye keep your fast on the fourth and on the preparation (the sixth) day.

Didache 8:2
Neither pray ye as the hypocrites, but as the Lord commanded in His Gospel, thus pray ye:
Our Father, which art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done,
as in heaven, so also on earth;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debt,
as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one;

for Thine is the power and the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 8:3
Three times in the day pray ye so.

Didache 9:1
But as touching the eucharistic thanksgiving give ye thanks thus.

Didache 9:2
First, as regards the cup:
We give Thee thanks, O our Father,
for the holy vine of Thy son David,
which Thou madest known unto us
through Thy Son Jesus;
Thine is the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 9:3
Then as regarding the broken bread:
We give Thee thanks, O our Father,
for the life and knowledge
which Thou didst make known unto us
through Thy Son Jesus;
Thine is the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 9:4
As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains
and being gathered together became one,
so may Thy Church be gathered together
from the ends of the earth into Thy kingdom;
for Thine is the glory and the power
through Jesus Christ for ever and ever.

Didache 9:5
But let no one eat or drink of this eucharistic thanksgiving, but they that have been baptized into the name of the Lord; for concerning this also the Lord hath said: Give not that which is holy to the dogs.

Didache 10:1
And after ye are satisfied thus give ye thanks:

Didache 10:2
We give Thee thanks, Holy Father,
for Thy holy name,
which Thou hast made to tabernacle in our hearts, and for the knowledge and faith and immortality,
which Thou hast made known unto us
through Thy Son Jesus;
Thine is the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 10:3
Thou, Almighty Master,
didst create all things for Thy name's sake,
and didst give food and drink unto men for enjoyment, that they might render thanks to Thee;
but didst bestow upon us spiritual food and drink and eternal life through Thy Son.

Didache 10:4
Before all things we give Thee thanks
that Thou art powerful;
Thine is the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 10:5
Remember, Lord, Thy Church
to deliver it from all evil
and to perfect it in Thy love;
and gather it together from the four winds- even the Church which has been sanctified-
into Thy kingdom which Thou hast prepared for it; for Thine is the power and the glory for ever and ever.

Didache 10:6
May grace come and may this world pass away.
Hosanna to the God of David.
If any man is holy, let him come;
if any man is not, let him repent.
Maran Atha. Amen.

Didache 10:7
But permit the prophets to offer thanksgiving as much as they desire.

Didache 11:1
Whosoever therefore shall come and teach you all these things that have been said before, receive him;

Didache 11:2
but if the teacher himself be perverted and teach a different doctrine to the destruction thereof, hear him not; but if to the increase of righteousness and the knowledge of the Lord, receive him as the Lord.

Didache 11:3
But concerning the apostles and prophets, so do ye according to the ordinance of the Gospel.

Didache 11:4
Let every apostle, when he cometh to you, be received as the Lord;

Didache 11:5
but he shall not abide more than a single day, or if there be need, a second likewise; but if he abide three days, he is a false prophet.

Didache 11:6
And when he departeth let the apostle receive nothing save bread, until he findeth shelter; but if he ask money, he is a false prophet.

Didache 11:7
And any prophet speaking in the Spirit ye shall not try neither discern; for every sin shall be forgiven, but this sin shall not be forgiven.

Didache 11:8
Yet not every one that speaketh in the Spirit is a prophet, but only if he have the ways of the Lord. From his ways therefore the false prophet and the prophet shall be recognized.

Didache 11:9
And no prophet when he ordereth a table in the Spirit shall eat of it; otherwise he is a false prophet.

Didache 11:10
And every prophet teaching the truth, if he doeth not what he teacheth, is a false prophet.

Didache 11:11
And every prophet approved and found true, if he doeth ought as an outward mystery typical of the Church, and yet teacheth you not to do all that he himself doeth, shall not be judged before you; he hath his judgment in the presence of God; for in like manner also did the prophets of old time.

Didache 11:12
And whosoever shall say in the Spirit, Give me silver or anything else, ye shall not listen to him; but if he tell you to give on behalf of others that are in want, let no man judge him.

Didache 12:1
But let every one that cometh in the name of the Lord be received; and then when ye have tested him ye shall know him, for ye shall have understanding on the right hand and on the left.

Didache 12:2
If the comer is a traveler, assist him, so far as ye are able; but he shall not stay with you more than two or three days, if it be necessary.

Didache 12:3
But if he wishes to settle with you, being a craftsman, let him work for and eat his bread.

Didache 12:4
But if he has no craft, according to your wisdom provide how he shall live as a Christian among you, but not in idleness.

Didache 12:5
If he will not do this, he is trafficking upon Christ. Beware of such men.

Didache 13:1
But every time prophet desiring to settle among you is worthy of his food.

Didache 13:2
In like manner a true teacher is also worthy, like the workman, of his food.

Didache 13:3
Every firstfruit then of the produce of the wine-vat and of the threshing- floor, of thy oxen and of thy sheep, thou shalt take and give as the firstfruit to the prophets; for they are your chief-priests.

Didache 13:4
But if ye have not a prophet, give them to the poor.

Didache 13:5
If thou makest bread, take the firstfruit and give according to the commandment.

Didache 13:6
In like manner, when thou openest a jar of wine or of oil, take the firstfruit and give to the prophets;

Didache 13:7
yea and of money and raiment and every possession take the firstfruit, as shall seem good to thee, and give according to the commandment.

Didache 14:1
And on the Lord's own day gather yourselves together and break bread and give thanks, first confessing your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure.

Didache 14:2
And let no man, having his dispute with his fellow, join your assembly until they have been reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be defiled;

Didache 14:3
for this sacrifice it is that was spoken of by the Lord; In every place and at every time offer me a pure sacrifice; for I ama a great king, saith the Lord, and My name is wonderful among the nations.

Didache 15:1
Appoint for yourselves therefore bishops and deacons worthy of the Lord, men who are meek and not lovers of money, and true and approved; for unto you they also perform the service of the prophets and teachers.

Didache 15:2
Therefore despise them not; for they are your honorable men along with the prophets and teachers.

Didache 15:3
And reprove one another, not in anger but in peace, as ye find in the Gospel; and let no one speak to any that has gone wrong towards his neighbor, neither let him hear a word from you, until he repent.

Didache 15:4
But your prayers and your almsgiving and all your deeds so do ye as ye find it in the Gospel of our Lord.

Didache 16:1
Be watchful for your life; let your lamps not be quenched and your loins not ungirdled, but be ye ready; for ye know not the hour the hour in which our Lord cometh.

Didache 16:2
And ye shall gather yourselves together frequently, seeking what is fitting for your souls; for the whole time of your faith shall not profit you, if ye be not perfected at the last season.

Didache 16:3
For in the last days the false prophets and corrupters shall be multiplied, and the sheep shall be turned into wolves, and love shall be turned into hate.

Didache 16:4
For as lawlessness increaseth, they shall hate one another and shall persecute and betray. And then the world-deceiver shall appear as a son of God; and shall work signs and wonders, and the earth shall be delivered into his hands; and he shall do unholy things, which have never been since the world began.

Didache 16:5
Then all created mankind shall come to the fire of testing, and many shall be offended and perish; but they that endure in their faith shall be saved by the Curse Himself.

Didache 16:6
And then shall the signs of the truth appear; first a sign of a rift in the heaven, then a sign of a voice of a trumpet, and thirdly a resurrection of the dead;

Didache 16:7
yet not of all, but as it was said The Lord shall come and all His saints with Him.

Didache 16:8
Then shall the world see the Lord coming upon the clouds of heaven.

THE DRIVER IS DEAD!

A smart and active child was playing with a battery-operated toy car. It fell from his hands and stopped working. He took it to his father who was an engineer.
His father opened the car with a screwdriver to examine the trouble. The curious child was watching carefully. Suddenly he cried out in joy, “Daddy, I have found out why it doesn’t work.” He put his tiny fingers into the car’s front seat and took out a dead fly. He declared aloud, “How can it work when the driver is dead?”
Actually, it was a wrong diagnosis. The father had found that the cells had been displaced by the fall. But he enjoyed the child’s innocent comment. Later he repaired it and returned it to the child who resumed his play.
Whenever we encounter a failure or disaster in our life or career, we assign the responsibility to some other person. In some cases, the actual fault may be our own. But we attribute it to others or to ‘ill-fate’.
Failures and negative incidents in life should be seen as part of God’s plans for our ultimate welfare.
God has definite and specific plans about every man.
“The Lord says…I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for” {Jeremiah 29: 11}.

GOD'S MYSTERIOUS MOVES

William Cowper, British poet and Bible scholar (1731-1800) suffered from occasional bouts of deep depression and doubt. There is a legend about the last hymn composed by him. One night when he was in a dark mood of deep despair, he left his home, determined to end his life by jumping into the River Thames in England.
That night the city of
London was covered with an unusually heavy fog and Mr. Cowper, who was searching to find the river, lost his way and wandered aimlessly. After a long while, he saw a distant light and proceeded towards it. He was surprised to reach the doorstep of a house. The light was burning brightly within the house and the front door was open as if to welcome the wandering William. He soon realized that it was his own home and that God had mercifully brought him back to safety. Entering his room he wrote the following words of the beautiful hymn in praise of the living Lord by whose loving grace he could return to his own residence.

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.
(By William Cowper, ‘Light Shining out of Darkness’, Olney Hymns, published in 1779)
King David, in a prayer of Praise, sings, “In times of trouble He will shelter me; He will keep me safe in His Temple and make me secure on a high rock” {Psalms 27: 5}.
God said through Prophet Isaiah, “Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you.
Jerusalem, I can never forget you! I have written your name on the palms of my hands” {Isaiah 49: 15, 16}.
Our loving heavenly Father is ready to rescue us during times of despair and depression. He protects us in the shelter of His infinite love and kindly leads us to the place of safety and peace.

A MELODIOUS MUSIC

There was a musician who was exceptionally talented and a gifted player of fiddle. He was once performing before a large audience, who were enjoying the heavenly melody with rapt attention and great appreciation. He was playing his own favourite fiddle which had four strings and a bow.
As the programme progressed, one of the strings broke. But he continued to perform without interruption. Then a second string also broke. Still he continued the music without break. After a while, the third string also broke. He continued his magic performance with a single string, with excellent expertise. His music was so melodious that no one could feel the great tragedy that occurred during the performance.
This incident teaches us that for a really talented and gifted musician, a single string is sufficient to create a miraculous melody.
The mighty Goliath was felled by a single small stone in the gifted hands of David, because God was with David {1 Samuel 17: 49, 50}.
Jesus employed the simple and humble gift of five loaves and two fish from a boy to feed the thousands who had assembled to hear His sermon {John 6: 9-13}.
Each person is precious to God. Everyone is gifted with unique capabilities. He has called each of us by name and written our name on the palm of His hands. “Israel, the Lord who created you says, “Do not be afraid – I will save you. I have called you by name – you are mine” {Isaiah 43:1}.
“Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you. Jerusalem, I can never forget you! I have written your name on the palm of my hands” {Isaiah 49: 14-16}.
God has given every person a generous gift of special talents, which we often hide and refuse to use. (Matthew 25: 14-30 and Luke 19: 11-27). “Each one of us has received a special gift in proportion to what Christ has given” {Ephesians 4: 7}. We must serve God and our fellow men utilising fully, all the talents and gifts God has given to us (Ephesians 4:11, 12}.

THE HIDDEN TREASURE

An old beggar was on his deathbed. As a parting gift, he handed over a small packet wrapped in old clothes to his only son. He advised his son to handle it with the utmost care. Soon he passed away. After his father’s funeral, the son started to beg in the streets, as he knew of no other way to support him. He was careful to safely carry the packet given by his father along with him wherever he went. He did not care to open it or see what was within it. After a long time, his friends forcefully opened the bundle and examined it. They were surprised to find some very valuable jewels inside the packet. Unaware of its value, the young man was leading the miserable life of a beggar, carrying the packet with him.
God has given every person a generous gift of special talents, which we often hide and refuse to use. (Matthew 25: 14-30 and Luke 19: 11-27.) Let us learn to utilize our God-given talents to benefit every one around us.

God's chair

 A man's daughter had asked the local pastor to come and pray with   her father.  When the pastor arrived, he found the man lying in bed with    his   head propped up on two pillows and an empty chair beside his bed. The   pastor  assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me," he said. "No, who are you?".
"I'm the new associate at your local church," the pastor replied. "When I saw the empty chair, I figured you knew I was going to  show up."
"Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the  door?"
Puzzled, the pastor shut the door.
"I've never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man.   "But  all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I  used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it always went right over   my   head. I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, "until  one  day about four years ago my best friend said to me, 'Joe, prayer is just   a  simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here's what I suggest:
Sit down on a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith   see  Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, 'I'll be with   you  always. 'Then just speak to him and listen in the same  way you're doing  with me right now.'
So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours  every day.  I'm careful, though. If my daughter saw me talking to an   empty  chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny   farm." The pastor was deeply moved by  the story and encouraged the old   guy  to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, and returned to the church.
Two nights later the daughter called to tell the pastor that her daddy   had  died that afternoon.
"Did he seem to die in peace?" he asked.
"Yes, when    I   left the house around two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told    me  one of his corny jokes, and kissed me on the cheek.  When I got back from   the store an hour later, I found him dead.  But there was something strange,  in fact, beyond strange-really weird.  Apparently, just before Daddy    died,   he leaned over and rested his head on a chair beside the bed."

Prayer after Communion By Cardinal John Henry Newman

Jesus Prayer  -  by Cardinal John Henry Newman  (1901-1990)
(Recited daily  after Communion, by Mother Teresa of Calcutta and her Sisters of Charity)
Dear Jesus,
help me to spread your fragrance wherever I go.
Flood my soul with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly
that my life may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with
may feel your presence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me, but only Jesus!
Stay with me and then I will begin to shine as you shine,
so to shine as to be a light to others.
The light, O Jesus, will be all from you; none of it will be mine.
It will be you, shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise you in the way which you love best,
by shining on those around me.
Let me preach you without preaching, not by words but by example,
by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what I do,
the evident fullness of the love my heart bears for you.  Amen.

A Prayer of John Henry Cardinal Newman

John Henry Cardinal Newman
          God created me
to do him some definite service;
he has committed some work to me
which he has not committed to another.

I have my mission -
I may never know it in this life,
but I shall be told it in the next...
Therefore, I will trust him...
If I am in sickness,
my sickness may serve him;
in perplexity,
my perplexity may serve him;
if I am in sorrow,
my sorrow may serve him...
He does nothing in vain;
he may prolong my life,
he may shorten it,
he knows what he is about.

Let's Pray for the Reparation of Our Guilt

This short prayer is for the sins of our human society which causes the great harm to us. because of our ignorance we have been hurting ourselves for many years. Because of greediness, selfishness our society has fallen down to the lowest level through the history. We need to pray, every one of us so that God will forgive all our guilt. May the Lord Bless Us all. Note this prayer is intended for the abortion throughout the world. May the Lord Grant Us Peace!

Prayer of Reparation

God and Father of Life,
You have created every human person,
And have opened the way for each to have eternal life.

We live in the shadow of death.
Tens of millions of your children have been killed because of the Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Father, have mercy on us.
Heal our land
And accept our offering of prayer and penance.
In your love for us,
Turn back the scourge of abortion.

May each of us exult in hearts full of hope
And hands full of mercy
And work together to build a culture of life.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE SACRED SACRAMENT

Dionysius (Denis, Dennis or Diniz) was a king of Portugal.St. Elizabeth (1271-1336) was his saintly wife who led a virtuous life. She had a great concern for the poor and needy. She did not admire the glory, grandeur and riches of the royal family. She led several acts of charity, often secretly, with the help of a pious young servant of the palace.
An assistant of the king was envious of the young servant of the queen. He told the king that the young man had illicit relations with the queen. The king believed this false accusation and made arrangements to assassinate the young man. King Dionysius had a secret agent - the owner of a limekiln where large amounts of lime-stone were heated to a high temperature in a large furnace to manufacture quick lime. The king informed the kiln-owner that he would send a servant with the secret message, “Have you obeyed the king’s order?” He instructed the kiln owner to have the servant bound and burned alive mercilessly in the raging fire of the blazing furnace.
The king summoned the pious servant and sent him to the kiln-owner with the secret message.
On the way to the limekiln, there was a church where the Holy Eucharist was being celebrated. Following his usual practice, he entered the church with reverence and participated in the celebration of the Sacred Sacrament with great devotion. As he was about to come out, bells rang indicating that another Holy Mass was to be celebrated in that church soon. He participated in the next Holy Mass also and was much delayed in dispatching the king’s message to the kiln-owner.
Meanwhile, the king and the wicked servant were anxious to know the fate of the pious young man. The king sent the wicked servant to enquire about the assassination of the pious servant. While the pious servant was still on his way, the wicked servant reached the kiln and asked the owner, “Have you obeyed the king’s order?” Hearing the king’s code-words, the kiln-owner assumed that the wicked servant was the person destined for death. The wicked servant was bound and thrown into the fierce fire of the furnace and burned to death.
A little while later, the pious and saintly servant reached the kiln and delivered the king’s message. The kiln owner happily replied that he has obeyed the king’s order and sent him back to the king to convey this news to the king. Seeing the innocent servant who returned safely to inform about the end of the envious man, the king was shocked. He was transformed. He resolved to respect the virtues of his queen. This incident proved how the Divine Sacrament saved a saintly believer from death.
The sacred Sacrament imparts divine grace to every one who participates in its celebration with a pure heart. It saves us from sin and leads us to salvation.

A FATAL FLOOD

A river was in flood following heavy rain. The authorities warned the people staying near the river that a heavy flood was imminent and exhorted them to vacate their residences immediately and move to a safe camp, carrying only the most essential articles with them. First they sent a truck to carry the people. Most of them escaped in the truck. One person was adamant that he would not follow them. He declared that he had a firm faith in God and was confident that God would save him.
The water from the overflowing river filled the lower areas and covered the roads. A rescue team was sent in a country boat in search of the remaining people to carry them to a safe place. The boatmen rowed along the roads which were now submerged and announced their mission, inviting those trapped in their houses to escape in the boat. The ‘believer’ still refused to enter the boat, repeating that he would continue to stay and pray till God came to save him. The boatmen left with the remaining people.
The river burst its banks and flooded the valley. The overflowing water covered the houses one by one. The believer reached the terrace of his house and raising his hands to the sky, continued his prayer.
The final rescue team surveyed the flood-hit area in a helicopter. They found the lone man on the terrace of his house and lowered a rope to him, shouting through a loudspeaker that he should hold on to the rope for being pulled into the helicopter and thus save himself. But the man was obstinate and adamant. He rejected their requests and refused to be saved. He stayed there, expecting God’s direct intervention to save him. The last team left, abandoning the adamant believer. The floods soon covered his house and he was drowned to death. Reaching heaven, he complained to God that He did not come to save his faithful servant in spite of his fervent prayers. God replied, “Son, I had come to you thrice - first in the truck, then in the boat and finally, in the helicopter. But you foolishly turned down my requests. You wasted the three chances I gave you to save your life.”
A person used to pray every day that he may win the first prize in a lottery. He was very sad as his prayer was not answered for a long time. Once he complained to God for not answering his only prayer. God told him in a dream, “Son, I am ready to grant your wish; but please purchase a lottery ticket first.”
That shows the prerequisite for an answer to our prayers: God wants our participation to perform a miracle in our life. When Jesus wanted to feed the thousands, He asked, “How much bread have you got? Go and see” {Mark 6:38}. He then accepted the boy’s gift of five loaves and two fish and multiplied them miraculously.

DEVIL'S BEATITUDES

WISH YOU ALL EXTENDED BLESSED NEW YEAR GREETINGS!

Usually on New Year Day many of us take some resolutions to follow up in the coming year.  And some of us don't remember it after 1st of January, and most of us have confusion to what to make as a resolution.  I think this will help us to be aware and take a right resolution for this year and take us away from the devil and make us closer to God.  WATCH OUT! Whose side you are leaning on?

1. Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy to go to Sunday Mass! They are my BEST WORKERS, because they do not worship the One true God.

2. Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect to be thanked. They are MY BENEFACTORS, because they spread my message of pride.

3. Blessed are those who are touchy and stop going to Church. They are MY MISSIONARIES, for they bring others also to myside.

4. Blessed are the trouble makers. They shall be called MY CHILDREN because they spoil the unity and peace of the Parish.

5. Blessed are those who compalain. They are my most obedient LISTENERS, for they speak what I teach them.

6. Blessed are those who are bored with the Minister's mannerism for they are MY GOOD FRIENDS, because they cause others also to stumble.

7. Blessed are the Church Members who expects to be invited to his own Church for he is MY SLEEPING PARTNER, because they do nothing and it done it is half done.

8. Blessed are those who gossip because they are MY GOOD DISCIPLES. because they cause divisions.

9. Blessed are those who are easily offended for they are MY GOOD COLLEGUES. because they give up easily.

10. Blessed are those who do not give their offering for God's work for they are MY BEST HELPERS, because they cause damage in Evangelization.

11. Blessed are those who profess to love God but hate his brother for he is MY BEST BROTHER, because he is a lier.

12 Blessed are YOU WHO WHEN YOU READ THIS AND THINK THAT THIS IS ABOUT OTHERS AND NOT FOR YOURSELF. I'VE GOT YOU TOO, because you justify yourself.

SO...??? IT'S Y(O)UR CHOICE...
